When Casino Prince beat the star mare Tuesday Joy as a four-year-old in the Group 1 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) at Randwick he proved his class as one of Australia's toughest and most talented racehorses.
At two, we saw his star qualities with three brilliant wins headed by the Group 3 Skyline Stakes (1200m) at Randwick.
He then returned as a three-year-old to take out the Group 2 Alistair Clark Stakes before taking on star filly Miss Finland in the Group 1 Cadbury Guineas (1600m). He was narrowly beaten in the last few strides.
Since his retirement to stud in 2008 Casino Prince has been given a book of mares that is at least equal to that of any past comparable first season sire comprising of world class bloodlines, stakes winning fillies and proven stakes producing mares.
The results have shown during this year's sale season. Having returned a yearling sale average of over double his service fee, (31 yearlings sold for an average of $82,343) including the Easter Sale top lot of A$1.025m from his first crop. No less, a colt half brother to World Champion Sprinter Black Caviar.
Armed with the precocity of his Golden Slipper winning sire Flying Spur, from a blue chip family out of a daughter of a champion broodmare sire, Casino Princes' progeny will be sure to impress when they step out in the later part of 2011.
