There are not many better looking stallions in training than Patinack Farm’s Trusting and he can gallop too, making it back-to-back Group 2 wins with a commanding win in the $200,000 Hill Stakes (Gr 2) over 2000 metres at Rosehill.

Having jumped away well, Trusting led early but quickly settled under Jo Moreira and when Dealer Principal went around him to go to the front after 400 metres.

Approaching the turn in and Trusting was travelling strongly, Moreira having only to let the handsome bay some rein and the five-year-old quickened clear into the straight, breaking the will of his rivals and ending the race as a contest with 300 metres to go.

Trusting was being eased towards the finish but still had three and three-quarter lengths to spare over Hawk island with Tullamore a further two and three quarter lengths off in third.

A smiling John Thompson was full of praise for Trusting. “He’s an awesome horse,” the Patinack Farm head trainer said. “He is back. Everybody has always known he is the real deal but today he jumped and put himself in the race and just put them away. He’s an absolute ball of energy but when one went around him he just relaxed.”

“I don’t think I have ever been so confident with a horse going to the races. He had a good long break and he has come back a very good horse.”

Jo Moreira jetted in on Saturday morning having ridden in Singapore on Friday night and he maintained his 100 per-cent record on Trusting, both rides resulting in Group wins. “Again, I would like to thank all the people involved who helped me get here,” he said. “Hopefully I will be around more often, I really enjoy riding here.”

The Hill Stakes is the third Group 2 victory for Trusting (5 h Tale Of The Cat Legible, by Zabeel) who has now won four of his 20 starts, placing in a further six and his earnings now total $894,100.
