Patinack Farm continued to buy on Thursday at the Australian Easter Broodmare Sale, signing for a further two lots to take the total number of purchases so far to 21.

Highlight of the day was the acquisition of the Group 1 winner BEL MER for $1,050,000. The winner of four races and $598,775 on the track, Bel Mer took the Robert Sangster Stakes at the highest level as well as three wins at Listed status when trained by Mick Price. A sister to Group 3 winner Mooring, Bel Mer is by Bel Esprit and, like that Group 1 winner’s unbeaten daughter Black Caviar, is inbred to champion racehorse and sire Vain.

“Bel Mer represents what we are looking for at Patinack,” Rick Connolly said at sale end. “She’s a truly brilliant sprinter with explosive speed, she is by an emerging sire and her first two dams are stakeswinners so we feel she is a fantastic addition to the Patinack broodmare band.”
