Maules Creek Looking Good
Maules Creek (4 g Redoute’s Choice – Bramble Rose, by Shinko King) is only lightly-raced but he looks a horse of real promise judged on his gritty win in the $70,000 Benchmark 75 Handicap over 1500m at Rosehill on Saturday.
Fitter for his first-up run, Blake Shinn settled Maule’s Creek in fifth place along the inside to the home turn where he was able to deliver his challenge along the inside and Maules Creek showed a good turn of foot in the softening conditions to accelerate through and win going away in good style.
“He’s a funny horse,” Shinn said later. “He’s got the ability, plenty of talent, he just needs to get his head around it. When he gets is all together he’s going to make a nice horse.”
Maules Creek has now won three of his seven starts, placing in a further two.
