Patinack Farm enjoyed a winning double at Eagle Farm this afternoon with royally-bred colt Levis’s Choice showing real star quality to win his first race. Making just his second start, Levi’s Choice raced greenly but showed he is destined for better things with an impressive turn of foot to sprint clear in the straight.

By the Epsom Derby winner Galileo out of the high-class racemare Nina Haraka (Fraar), Levi’s Choice came right away at the finish of the Ambassador Travel Maiden Plate over 1400m and defeat Turnitup by 1-3/4 lengths in the style of a colt that is destined for better things.

Patinack Farm head trainer John Thompson described Levi’s Choice as a top-quality colt who would not be out of his depth in a race like the T J Smith (Gr 1) over 1600m on June 12, the race won by Patinack last year with Linky Dink.

“He definitely has a touch of class about him,” Thompson says. “We brought him up for the TJ Smith and although he’s still a bit green he’s heading in the right direction. To be able to do a few things wrong and still win as comfortably as he did shows he deserves a crack at the good races.”

Thompson said Levi’s Choice would run next in the QTC Sires’ Produce Stakes (Gr 2) over 1400m at Eagle Farm on June 5.

Earlier in the day Patinack’s Danzero filly Dance Of The Ocean made a winning debut in the www.brc.com  Maiden Plate over 1200m. Dance Of The Ocean came from a long way back turning for home to run down Benny’s Buttons in the final strides for a narrow win.

“She’s a nice filly but she is more of a speedy thing and the pace on in that race helped her,” he said. “She’s not in the same class as Levi’s Choice and we will take her along steadily and find the right races for her.”
