Patinack Farm runners are in action across four states on Saturday with genuine chances in several races.

High-class filly Kneeling (3 f Encosta de Lago – Sunday Service) runs in Race 2 over 1400 metres at Caulfield with top-weight of 59 kilograms. Withdrawn from her intended race last Saturday because of a wide barrier, Kneeling has drawn perfectly in barrier 2 on Saturday and, despite her weight and classy opposition, trainer John Thompson is expecting a forward showing with Steven Arnold in the saddle. “Her form going into the race is very good and if she can hold that then I expect her to go very well. Steve rode her in a gallop on Tuesday and was very pleased so we hope she can make her own luck from the draw.”

At Rosehill, Patinack Farm-homebred Boys On Tour (3 g General Nediym – Global Dance) looks to have a very good chance in the Dulcify Quality (Listed) over 1900 metres. Boys On Tour has been racing consistently this preparation and Thompson believes the trip of tomorrow’s race to be the key to his chance. “He really only has to run up to his work to be very hard to beat. He should be able to box seat from the barrier with the slower tempo over a longer distance.” Volatile Matter (3 g Redoute’s Choice – Champagne) runs in the same race and Thompson is viewing the race as a learning experience. “He’s a lovely sort and still learning, he is probably six-months away physically but has a place chance.”

Galizani (5 m Galileo – Zahani) runs in the Colin Stephen Handicap (Gr 3) over 2400 metres and Thompson is hoping that some subtle gear changes and a different jockey will enable her to settle better. “It’s been a struggle to get her to settle but we have made some changes and she has drawn well. Glyn (Schofield) came to ride her on Tuesday and she worked really well – if she can reproduce that then she should be hard to beat.

Levi’s Choice (4 g Galileo – Nina Haraka) runs second-up in the Shannon Stakes (Gr 2) over 1500 metres and Thompson is realistic about his chances. “He raced very fresh last time and this is a very hard race, I’ll be happy if he can be hitting the line hard.”

Renewed Vitality (4 g Redoute’s Choice – Real Pzazz) runs in Race 5 at Rosehill and he is in career best form at present. “He has just thrived and is working super,” Thompson says. “He is very consistent and he should be thereabouts in this race.”
