Hussousa Showcases Husson
The new two-year-old season has started brilliantly for Patinack Farm with trainer John Thompson winning two races already.
On Saturday at Randwick the Patinack Farm-homebred Hussousa (2 f Husson – Petousa, by Redoute’s Choice) gave her unbeaten champion sire a stakes winner with his first runner in Australia when she streaked away with the Gimcrack Stakes (Listed) over 1000m at Randwick.
Showing the benefit of a recent Canterbury barrier trial, Hussousa was very professional, racing tractably throughout and coming clear in the straight after racing near the lead from the start.
Hussousa impressed Jo Moreira. “She’s just a nice filly, she jumped well and relaxed. She made things pretty easy for me and she won easy.”
John Thompson indicated Hussousa was likely to head to the paddock for a spell before she returns later in the season with races like the Blue Diamond and Golden Slipper on the agenda.
“We’ll see how she pulls up but I daresay she’ll go for a spell,” Thompson said. “We have some nice two-year-olds and have taken them along steadily so far and it’s been a real team effort to get Hussousa here today. She’s very professional and good too, a great advertisement for the stallion.”
Unbeaten champion Husson (Hussonet) stands for $22,000 (inc GST) at Patinack Farm in the Hunter Valley. That fee looks outstanding value given Husson has sired a stakeswinner from his first crop in Argentina and now a stakes winner with his first runner in Australia.
