Glass Shoots for Flight Stakes
Patinack Farm filly Pane In The Glass bids for Group 1 success in Saturday’s time-honoured Flight Stakes over 1600 metres at Randwick and head trainer John Thompson is confident that the roomier track will suit her big finish.
Pane In The Glass is already Group 1 placed as a two-year-old at Randwick in the Sires’ Produce Stakes and Champagne Stakes and Thompson is hopeful she can break through for her first win at the highest level on Saturday.
“She continues to thrive and I can’t wait to see her back at Randwick.” Thompson said.
Having won the Silver Shadow Stakes (Gr 3) over 1200 metres first-up, tempo played against her in the Group Two Furious Stakes (Gr 2, 1400m) and Group Two Tea Rose Stakes (Gr 2, 1500m) at her next two starts but Thompson is hoping for a truly run race tomorrow.
“She’s got a big race win in her and hopefully that’s Saturday,” Thompson suggests. “We’re hoping for more speed in the race. She has been running well but the way the races have been run have been to her disadvantage.
“Back over a mile at Randwick on Saturday, it’s a bit more testing, and I think that’s when she’ll come into her own. This is her grand final and she’s still on an upward spiral.”
