Drivel is Promising
Trainer John Thompson has the Patinack stable firing on all cylinders at present and he produced a promising filly in the shape of Drivel (3 f Redoute’s Choice – Tully Thunder) who was impressive in winning the Azzurro Handicap at Sandown Park today.
Racing in behind the leading group, Drivel came out in the straight and showed a nice turn of foot to strike the front and win the 1600m contest for 3yo fillies going away in good style.
“We’re doing a nice job placing them and she did it nicely,” stable foreman Chris Bock said. “She’s only lightly-raced and she will get better.”
Dean Holland has won at Group 1 level in the Patinack silks this season and he predicts a bright future for Drivel. “I’m very confident when I ride for the stable, they’re going very well at the moment. I was happy to let her jump and settle where she wanted. When I asked her to let down she did it well.” May 2
