Patinack Farm’s Galizani (5 m Galileo – Zahani, by Zabeel) returned to winning form with a strong win in the $100,000 Tattersalls Cup (Listed) over 2400 metres at Randwick on Saturday. Having settled back in the field, Galizani enjoyed the softening conditions and she came with a big finish in the straight to reach the lead inside the final 100m and then go clear.

With trainer John Thompson at Caulfield, stable foreman Andre Rabbett was on hand to welcome Galizani to the winners stall. “Things haven’t gone to plan this preparation but full credit to John. He changed her training when things weren’t working out and it has worked perfectly. We’ll see how she pulls up but there are plenty of options for her.”

“The sting out of the track probably helped her a bit,” jockey Tim Bell said. ”She quickened well off the hot tempo and showed her true colours today.”

The Tattersalls Cup is the second stakes win for Galizani who has now won four of her 15 starts and earned $188,525.
