Affable Vaults Husson to the Top
Unbeaten champion classic winner Husson (Hussonet) has made a brilliant start at stud in South America and he is carrying on the great work with his first-crop runners in Australia. The debut win at Sale on Wednesday by Affable (2 f Husson – Lady Gracious, by Redoute’s Choice) was impressive as the Patinack-homebred overcame a tardy start and it has placed Husson at the head of the Australian and New Zealand First Season Sires List.
Affable was slowly away and was near last early on but quickly mustered speed to rail through and lead, the first to turn for home. The heavily-backed race favourite Danestroem challenged hard in the straight but Affable found more for Chris Symons and the John Thompson-trainee was a comfortable winner at the finish of the 1000m contest for juveniles.
Affable is the second winner from seven runners in Australia by Husson and his earnings total of $75,775 places him at the top of the First Season Sires’ list by Earnings.
Bred on the identical cross to the Gimcrack Stakes (Listed) winner Hussousa, the Danehill nick is looking to be a real plus for Husson, whose sire Hussonet has success with mares carrying Danehill including group 1 winners Reaan, Eagle Falls and Gold Trail.
A great start from a great classic winner and all the more reason to look at the Husson yearlings at sales around Australia in 2012.
