The Autumn racing carnival’s will soon be upon us and that means one of the highlight’s of the racing year, the  Patinack Farm Blue Diamond Stakes day (Feb 25) is just around the corner.

The two-year-old feature, Blue Diamond Stakes had a total of 1,277 nominations (up 28 from the previous year) at the initial entry stage such is the prestige this group 1 is held. And there will be $1m on offer for this set-weight 1200m spectacle, which will help pinpoint the best juvenile in Australia

Sepoy was victorious last season, and his performances have since been acknowledged at the World Rankings Conference in London, where he was regarded as the Champion 3YO Sprinter in the World.

The Group 1 Futurity and Oakleigh Stakes support the card perfectly, which has now become the biggest race day in the Autumn for the Melbourne Racing Club at Caulfield.

There are separate lead-up races for colts and geldings, and fillies at Caulfield in the shape of the Blue Diamond Preview on Australia Day and Blue Diamond Prelude, as they step up from 1000m to 1100m and finally 1200m. As an extra incentive a $1 million bonus is also on offer for any horse that can win all three legs in the series.

With some good two-year-olds already showing their hand across the country, we should see another star added to the roll of honour come raceday.
