RACE RECORD

Wonderful World stamped himself as a great sire prospect when he won the Classic that has produced some of Australia’s greatest sires – the Group One Caulfield Guineas (1600m).

He joined the champion sires Redoute’s Choice, Vain, Ajax, Heroic, Luskin Star, Grosvenor, Sovereign Red, Royal Gem, Hydrogen and Beau Sovereign as winners of the Caulfield Guineas.

Wonderful World, who was trained by the Hall of Fame legend Bart Cummings, had only 15 starts, and six of his last seven runs were in elite Group One company.

Arguably one of his best racetrack performances came in defeat when it took a champion in El Segundo to beat him in Australia’s weight-for-age championship, the 2007 Group 1 Tattersall’s Cox Plate (2040m) at Moonee Valley. Wonderful World burst clear of a crack field on the bend, and behind him were Australia’s best including Miss Finland, Haradasun, Divine Madonna, Devil Moon, Efficient and Marasco.

Right from the time he stepped on to a racetrack, it was clear Wonderful World was a galloper of exceptional quality. He dominantly won his first two starts as a two-year-old at Canterbury and Randwick before finishing third in the Group One Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield behind Nadeem and Miss Finland.

On his way to winning the Caulfield Guineas at three, he won the major lead-up, the Group Three Guineas Prelude over 1400 metres.

And Wonderful World has a pedigree to match his racetrack performances.

PEDIGREE NOTES

Wonderful World combines the very best of trans-Atlantic speed.

His sire Agnes World provided Japan with their first July Cup - G1 in 2000 and has since gone on to confirm the Newmarket sprint as one of the best sire-making races in Europe.  Previous modern-day winners include Stravinsky, Anabaa, Royal Academy and Green Desert.

Wonderful World's dam, Success Tale, is by Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner Success Express whose greatest gifts are to inject versatility and a high degree of soundness into his stock.  Success Express is a Golden Slipper Sire and is beginning to build an outstanding record as a broodmare sire.

Already his daughters have produced the likes of Gold Edition, Duporth, Excites, Tickets, Cheval De Troy and Cox Plate hero Savabeel.  Wonderful World was no less versatile than his pedigree instructed.

He was a precocious G1 performer at two, classic mile winner at three and runner-up in Australia's WFA Championship at four.

With no Northern dancer blood on his dam-side, Wonderful World is doubly entitled to mares of that line without risk of close in-breeding.  In fact, because he is by an alternative son of Danzig to the ubiquitous Danehill, Wonderful World will find favour with descendants of Northern Dancer/Danzig/Danehill and so on.

While it does without saying that the fabulous relationship between Danzig-line stallions and Star Kingdom-line mares, it is worth noting that Success Express is highly compatible with Zabeel (by Sir Tristram).
